Running some mock assessments prior to the Medal itself will help to ensure that pupils are well prepared and used to the processes involved. Specimen Options tests are available in ABRSM’s Option Practice Books.
It is important to inform your pupils in advance of the Music Medal assessment that you will not be giving them any verbal feedback after each individual component. Simply saying ‘thank you' is enough to acknowledge their performances.
You will also need to give careful thought in advance to the role of each participating individual. It is important to ensure that Medals candidates pace themselves and avoid being overstretched, either in terms of physical stamina or concentration. As their teacher, you will be best placed to help your pupils to maximise their potential and achieve success!
