Filming the Assessment FAQs

Somebody interrupted the assessment while we were filming. Can we start again?

You can restart the assessment as many times as you like up to the point when the Option test is administered. Once the Option test has been administered, the Music Medal cannot be restarted. Please bear in mind that we are not judging the quality of filming!

How many candidates can I film on each videotape?

Up to 12.

What recording formats can I use?

A full list of accepted formats is available.

Should I announce each candidate before they start their assessment?

Yes. Detailed instructions governing verbal announcements are available online.

I have three candidates taking the same Medal on the same day. Do I have to film the Ensemble three times?

Yes. Only one candidate may be assessed per Medal, so you will need to video-record three Ensemble-Solo-Option sequences.

Will I get my video tape back after the assessments have been moderated?

No, but you will get a blank tape of the same format.

Where do I send the results after I have finished the filming?

You should send the video tape/disc, video log, report forms and option tests to Music Medals Office, ABRSM, 24 Portland Place, London, W1B 1LU. Please make sure you package everything securely. We recommend that you obtain a certificate of posting.
