13  Video-recording equipment

a. A video camera, tripod and camera tapes are required for Music Medals assessments.

b. The Music Medals Partner must ensure that the video camera used is of sufficient quality for assessment moderation purposes and is able to record in one of the formats listed in c below. Camera tapes required for the first set of assessments must be provided by the Music Medals Partner/Teacher-Assessor/Music Medals Co-ordinator.

c. The following recording formats are accepted: digital (Mini DV, Digital 8, DVD); analogue (Hi8, 8mm, VHS, VHS-C). ABRSM reserves the right to amend the list of accepted recording formats. Any amendments will be publicised on this website. Where ABRSM withdraws a recording format, a lead-in time of one year to the withdrawal will apply.

d. No more than twelve assessments may be included on any one tape.

e. Tapes in the same format as those originally submitted are resupplied by ABRSM direct to the Teacher-Assessor with the results.

f. The Teacher-Assessor is responsible for ensuring that the video camera operates smoothly during assessments. Any technical problems are the Teacher-Assessor’s responsibility to solve. ABRSM cannot be held responsible for any failure of the video camera or power supply.

g. Video-recordings of assessments may be handled only by the Teacher-Assessor or Music Medals Co-ordinator and must not be replicated or distributed to any other party. After assessments have taken place, only the Teacher-Assessor may view the video-recordings before their return to ABRSM.
